Athletics
At Colonel Irvine, we have a strong tradition in Roadrunner Athletics. We have worked hard building a program to help develop our young student athletes and to develop a strong sense of “Irvine” pride. Student athletes feel honored to represent Colonel Irvine and take pride in representing our school.
Students in Grades 6 - 9 can compete in interschool athletics. Students in Grades 5 have several opportunities for athletic based clubs to develop their skills. School athletic team compositions vary from sport to sport. Team selection decisions will be made by coaches based on skill level, leadership, work ethic, behavior and teamwork. Coaches will also determine whether or not a Grade 6 student athlete is physically and emotionally capable of competing at a safe and confident level with the Grade 7, 8 and 9 student athletes.
Coaches reserve the right to remove any student athletes from their team at any time during the course of the season both permanently or temporarily if they are not able to:
- attend and work hard in all practices and games
- put forth their best effort in all core and option classes
- be coachable
- follow the code of conduct and expectations of Colonel Irvine School
Wrestling
Wrestling is a non-cut team, meaning as long as students are committed to the practices, they are allowed to compete. Students are entered into weight classes and will compete against students in the same weight class. More information regarding tryouts will come later.
