Good afternoon, Colonel Irvine School Community,

It was great to see all the pink shirts on Wednesday and the Grade 9’s dressed up for their grad photos today. If a grade 9 student missed grad photos this week and would like to get them done still you can book an appointment with Lifetouch at their studio. Details below.

Speaking of gr 9 celebrations, the CBE will host a transitions Mini Round Dance honoring all grade 9 Indigenous families and students on April 10 from 5-8pm at Ernest Manning High School. Please see attachment from school email.

On Monday next week grade 5, 6, 8 and 9 students will participate in the CBE Student Survey and Grade 7’s will participate in the Alberta Education Assurance Survey next week. These surveys are anonymous and confidential and provide information for us on student perceptions of our school.

Last June we had some disappointed students because they did not have a yearbook. We’d like to again remind parents/guardians to pre-order a yearbook. February 28th is the last day to order. Details below.

Ramadan begins tomorrow and ends with Eid al-Fitr. It runs from the crescent moon to the next crescent moon. Ramadan is observed by Muslims around the world as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection and community.  As part of building a more inclusive school community at CI we have been playing O’Canada in different languages on Wednesday mornings. This week we played it in Arabic.

Lastly, please remind your child(ren) to clean up after themselves. We’ve noticed with the warmer weather this week, an increase of litter outside our school. We want to be good Highwood community members.

Thank you for your continued support in building a strong school community. Have a great weekend.

Ms. Ko & Ms. Dalwood
