Good afternoon, Colonel Irvine School Community.

下午好! 学文学校社区

Next week we will have our first Parent Teacher Interviews for this school year. If you wish to book conferences a separate email was sent this week and information is also below. Please remember to book an interview with any/all of your student’s teachers that you wish to speak with. This time we will hold two in-person evening interview sessions (Nov. 27&28) and an online day session of interviews on Friday (Nov. 29). If you are booking online interviews on the Friday, please connect with the link you receive in your email confirmation. If you are requiring an interpreter for any languages besides Chinese, please book for Friday and email the teacher that you require an interpreter, the language you need interpretation for and the best number to call you at. The teacher and interpreter will call you by phone at the allotted time. Also, a reminder to grade 9 parents/guardians that we will host two high school information sessions during interviews. More details are in the High School section below.

To show our support for Public Education in Alberta, teachers may be wearing during conferences.

This past week our School Council approved over $45000 of their funds to support our students and their learning. We are so grateful for all the parents/guardians/grandparents who volunteered at our last casino fundraiser and made this possible. The casino is the biggest fundraiser for our school and we usually are allocated one about every 18 months. The next casino fundraiser will be January 11 and 12, 2025 and we will need volunteers. Please see the School Council message below if you can help.

Also, in relation to school spending, our printing costs are much higher than last year and we have asked all our teachers to be conscientious of their printing. If students are losing paperwork, we will be asking that they print them at home, or from their own accounts at school so that we can better track.

A big congratulations to our basketball athletes and coaches for great season for making playoffs. Our Junior girls’ will be advancing to the semi-finals on Monday at Valley Creek school.  Special thanks to our coaches: Ms. Yeo, Ms. Vo, Mr. Bester, Mr. Prather, Mr. Luu and Mr. Brouwer for volunteering their time coaching our students. We’d like to thank our scorekeepers, students and parents who came out to show their support, and the teacher supervisors who support at our home games.

We are pleased to share that we’ve raised over $2500 for the Terry Fox Foundation. Thank you to all the students, parents and staff for participating in our fundraiser. We appreciate the generosity of our school community. We are looking forward to completing our goal of raising $4000 before our winter break.

Thank you for your continued support,

Ms. Ko and Ms. Dalwood
