Dear Parents/Guardians,
As the City of Calgary continues to grow, the Calgary Board of Education (CBE) is committed to providing strong, stable learning environments that keep peers together, while working to alleviate enrolment pressures.
Why am I receiving this notice?
According to CBE records you live in the Castleridge, Coral Springs, Falconridge or Rosemont community, and your child(ren) or current school may be impacted by designation changes, beginning the 2026-27 school year.
This notice will provide you with the information you need to know.
What are the changes for the Castleridge, Coral Springs, and Falconridge Communities?
Starting in the 2026-27 school year, Grade 10 to 12 Regular Program students, including their siblings, will be re-designated from James Fowler High School to Crescent Heights High School (Map 1). This means:
- All new Grade 10 to 12 registrations for the 2026-27 school year and beyond will be designated to Crescent Heights High School.
- Current Grade 10 to 11 families can choose to stay at James Fowler High School until Grade 12.
- Crescent Heights High School is located at 1019 1 St NW.
What are the changes for the Rosemont Community?
Starting in the 2026-27 school year, Grade 10 to 12 Regular Program students, including their siblings, will be re-designated from Crescent Heights High School to James Fowler High School (Map 2). This means:
- All new Grade 10 to 12 registrations for the 2026-27 school year and beyond will be designated to James Fowler High School.
- Current Grade 10 to 11 families can choose to stay at Crescent Heights High School until Grade 12.
- These changes will allow Rosemont students to attend the same high school designation as their junior high peers and reduce travel time to school.
- James Fowler High School is located at 4004 4 St NW.
Are there any changes to the Alternative/Language Program?
There are no changes planned to the Alternative/Language program for the upcoming 2026-27 school year.
How do I register my child for the school next year?
Current CBE students living in the impacted communities and are included in the designation changes outlined in this notice, must inform their current principal of their choice by Friday, March 13, 2026 to stay at their current school or transfer to the designated school.
Failure to notify the principal of your choice, will result in your child(ren) being automatically designated to the new school.
Any student new to the CBE is required to register online by visiting our New Student Registration page. Registration for the 2026-27 school year starts January 2026.
How will students get to school?
High school students are assigned Calgary Transit. Routes can be accessed at www.calgarytransit.com through the “Plan a Trip” tool.
Calgary Transit determines the number of buses and routes based on actual ridership and available resources. Some residential districts have school express routes to the designated school. These routes are public transportation and can be accessed by the public. Many residential districts do not have direct routes. Students in these residential districts must use regular services. While CBE works collaboratively with Calgary Transit, decisions on service levels are made by Calgary Transit based on available space and resources.
What if I have more questions?
Please contact your principal if you have questions regarding these changes. If you still have questions or require additional information, please contact the Area 2 office at Area2@cbe.ab.ca or 403-777-8720 (extension 0).
