Good afternoon, Colonel Irvine School Community,
下午好! 学文学校社区,
We had a fun week of friendly competition with students and staff during lunch time to raise money for the Alberta Children’s Hospital. We raised over $400 this week. Thank you to Ms. Lee for organizing the events with her leadership students.
Today, our learning leaders and administration met to discuss our upcoming PATS, and other events that will happen for the last two months of school. We also spent time on English as an additional language benchmarking, updating individual program plans, year-end planning, as well as next year’s planning. Whether it is non-instructional days or when we have early dismissals, teachers meet in either curricular and or committee groups to plan for students’ learning and achievement. It is a requirement for teachers to attend professional learning on Fridays and non-instructional days.
Congratulations to our three badminton teams. Divisionals were held at Forest Lawn High School this week, and the athletes did a smashing job. Collectively, our athletes were able to capture first place for Colonel Irvine all 3 nights of competition. Thank you to all athletes who participated and the teachers who volunteered their time. Special thanks to Ms. Tan, Ms. Vo, Ms. Yeo, Mr. Luu, Mr. Mills, and Mr. Prather for coaching this badminton season.
We are asking parents and guardians to speak to their child about keeping our school environment clean. There has been an increased amount of litter outside, and we ask students to help put trash into the garbage bins. This is very evident after lunch time. We want to be respectful to the community of Highwood. We will have a clean-up day next week to show our respect for the land.
Lastly, we hope our grade 9 will have fun at the YMCA camp. They will be leaving on Tuesday and will return on Friday.
Thank you for your continued support.
Ms. Ko & Mr. McDonald

We continue to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing bus stop with available space. Processing times for registrations submitted after the June 14 deadline will be delayed. It may take until mid-October before your child is able to ride the bus.
Service levels will remain the same as the current school year with a fee of $500/year per student.
Confirmed routes will be posted in MyCBE in August.

Grade 9 Outdoor Education Trip - Big Chief Fundraiser
All the fundraiser items should have gone out to the students except for one student’s order (due to illness she was unable to distribute her orders). Please email me at yoyeo@cbe.ab.ca if you are missing your order and I will look into it. Thank you to everyone who ordered to support the students!
Vaccination Program
To the Parents and/or Guardians of the Gr 6, 7, 8 & 9 student(s) who attend Colonel Irvine school.
This is to inform you that the immunization team from Primary Care Alberta (AHS) will be at the school on May 19th, 2026, for a vaccination program.
We will be doing the 2nd doses of the gr 6 immunizations as well as for grades who have outstanding consent forms already signed from earlier this year and/or previous years.
Consent forms for gr 6 & 9 students went out from the school this past fall & some duplicates have been sent out recently after conversation with parents whom we have followed up with. If you still have the consent forms at home, please return them to the school as soon as able.
We recommend the kiddos eat breakfast the day of the program and wear a short sleeve shirt to help ensure a successful and positive vaccine experience.
Needle anxiety is extremely common, please visit tips on the Commitment to Comfort | Alberta Health Services website.
If there are questions or concerns, please contact me directly @ 403-944-7514.

Baby Photos of the Gr. 9 Students!
As we begin preparing for graduation, please remind your child to upload a baby photo by May 18 to the PE D2L link, as these photos will be used for special grad features. Click the “Grade 9 Graduation Baby Photos” link on the announcements page and upload your photo before May 18. Be sure to include the student's full name as the photo file name.
Parking
We kindly ask parents and guardians to please refrain from parking or entering the FFCA Elementary School parking lot. Keeping this area clear helps ensure that staff are able to access the school safely and efficiently.
We also ask families to avoid parking in the bus pick‑up and drop‑off zone at dismissal. This area, located directly in front of the school, is reserved for school buses to support safe and orderly student arrival and departure.
We truly appreciate your understanding and cooperation and thank you for helping us maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all members of our school community.
Attendance
If your child is missing school, please leave a message on the attendance line prior to 9 am or email colonelirvine@cbe.ab.ca.
