The Week Ahead - Oct 2

Thank you to all the students for wearing orange to school in support of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. We took a group photo of all the students who wore orange and will share it in the yearbook. For more information on events taking place this weekend for the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation you can visit the City of Calgary webpage.

We also had our Bubble Tea fundraiser today for those that purchased them in support of the Terry Fox Foundation. This will go towards our school goal of raising $3000 for the Terry Fox Foundation by the end of December. Donations can also be made online at: https://schools.terryfox.ca/30862

This week forms went home with interested students for the Principal Student Advisory Council. This is our second year doing this as a school and we have this council to seek student input on how to make the school a better place for everyone. Some of the feedback we received and implemented last year was around having more clubs, providing access to more sports equipment at lunch, recognizing more cultural celebrations and giving out more student awards. The Principal Student Advisory Council will meet one Thursday a month at lunch. Student Council also started this week. Students can listen to announcements for more information on this opportunity as well.

Tuesday, we held our first practice internal lockdown of the year. It went well and we were impressed with how quiet students remained throughout the whole practice. Thank you to our School Resource Officer, Constable Sabrina Shaw and the Calgary Police Services Lockdown team for supporting our practice.

For students in Grade 7, your Grade 6 Provincial Achievement Test results will be sent home by the end of October in paper form. If you had a student here in Gr 9 last year, they will get their results from their current high school.

Our recommendation is that you utilize both systems.

Technical support is available for both systems, please contact the support email for whichever system you are having issues with.

When time allows the school will also send out a School Messenger with details. Please pay attention to the effected routes that will be mentioned in the message title.
