Good Afternoon, Colonel Irvine School community,
下午好! 学文学校社区,
Thank you to parents/guardians that joined our council meeting on Tuesday and to all the parents/guardians who are volunteering this weekend at the casino. We are very appreciative of your support and time. Just like our students, we have amazing parents in our school community. We are still looking for one more volunteer for the count room staff for Sunday from 11:00 pm – 3:30 am and some on-call back-up.
🍽️ BONUS: A meal is provided for volunteers. You can order meals from the restaurant at the casino (ACE casino by the Calgary Airport)

Congratulations to our Girls soccer team for defeating Simon Fraser in the finals. Superb job to all our athletes and coaches. Way to go Roadrunners!! Thank you to Ms. Tan, Ms. Lee, and Ms. Kormann for volunteering their time to support our athletes.
Today we met with our grade 9 students to discuss high school and what they can expect over the next few months with respect to tours, open houses and course selection for next year. We stressed the importance of regular attendance and forming good learning habits as report card marks will determine what courses they will be able to take in high school. High school open house dates have started to come out. This information is in the high school section below. We will try to put as many of the high school open houses here when we get the information. More information is below.
Next Friday we will have 2 blocks of activities for students. We will be hosting the first dance of the year in support of the Terry Fox Foundation. Leadership will be selling treats and snacks to also support our Terry Fox Fundraiser. Students also have the option to pick other activities (Games room, cooking etc...). If students wish to dress-up Friday, please remember that face masks cannot be worn at school, that pretend weapons need to stay at home, and that costumes must be in line with the school dress code and be safe, caring, and welcoming (no cultural stereotyping).
Thank you for your continued support.
Ms. Ko & Mr. McDonald

High School (Grade 9’s):
We are starting to plan for high school transitions. This will be ongoing between now and the start of March. We will put all information related to high school transitions in this section moving forward. If you have a student in grade 9, please check this information regularly.
For parents with students going into Gr. 10 next year, we will be holding in-person and virtual information sessions for parents during Parent Teacher Interviews. These sessions will give a brief overview of what you can expect over the next few months with regards to getting ready for high school, and will also provide time for Q&A. In the meantime, the CBE High School website is a great place to start to learn about high school information. You may also wish to visit the individual high schools’ websites.
We will hold an in-person session:
Thursday, November 26th at 6:30 – 7:00 pm in the learning commons.
