Good Afternoon, Colonel Irvine School Community.
下午好! 学文学校社区,
I can't believe we are at the end of October. A big thank you to families who volunteered their time to our casino fundraiser. We appreciate and value the support.
Students had a lot of fun during our activity blocks today. Today we raised another $950 to go towards our Terry Fox Fundraiser. Thank you to our students and families for supporting our fundraising efforts in hopes that we find a cure for cancer. We have now reached $3000. We have set a goal of $4500 for our school. We will continue to fundraise until the end of December. We will continue to collect “toonies” for Terry at the main office and donations can also be made online at https://schools.terryfox.ca/ColonelIrvineCalgary.
Please have a talk with your child(ren) about traffic safety. It has been brought to our attention that students are running across the street without looking. We want our students to be safe and not injured by cars. Please use marked crosswalks and look before crossing. Together we can keep our school community safe.
We will have our annual Remembrance Day ceremonies on Thursday, November 5th. We are having this earlier than usual as we are having our gymnasium painted. The grade 5-7 ceremony will occur from 12:45 – 1:40 pm and grade 8 and 9 ceremony between 1:45 – 2:40. We will have a special speaker with us during the ceremonies. Parents/guardians are welcome to attend, but please email jcmcdonald@cbe.ab.ca so that we can plan accordingly. We would like to encourage students, if possible, to bring a loonie for poppies, which will go to the Legion. Thank you for your support and kindness. Together, we can make a difference.
As always, we appreciate your continued support.
Ms. Ko & Mr. McDonald

A Huge Thank You to Our Casino Volunteers!
On behalf of our school community, thank you to all our casino volunteers for joining us last weekend at Ace Airport Casino!
We are so grateful to everyone who signed up for a shift, as well as those who offered to be on call as backup. Our casino fundraiser is our flagship fundraiser, providing essential funds for equipment, supplies, learning materials, and so much more. These funds directly benefit our teachers and students, and we truly appreciate everyone who dedicated part of their weekend to supporting our school community.
Congratulations to Tasia Tang, the winner of our $25 Indigo gift card!
We’re also looking for our next Casino Fundraiser Coordinator!
A special thank-you goes to Mark T. for organizing our past casino fundraisers and dedicating so many hours to planning and coordinating these events. We are incredibly grateful for all the time and effort Mark has given to support our school community!
Our next casino fundraiser won’t take place for another 18–24 months, but we’d love to fill the coordinator role as soon as possible to allow plenty of time for planning and preparation.
Interested in taking on this role or learning more about what’s involved? We’d love to hear from you! Please reach out to us at colonelirvineschoolcouncil@gmail.com.
Thank you again for your incredible support!
Teri T. (Chair)

High School (Grade 9’s):
We are starting to plan for high school transitions. This will be ongoing between now and the start of March. We will put all information related to high school transitions in this section moving forward. If you have a student in grade 9, please check this information regularly.
For parents with students going into Gr. 10 next year, we will be holding in-person and virtual information sessions for parents during Parent Teacher Interviews. These sessions will give a brief overview of what you can expect over the next few months with regards to getting ready for high school, and will also provide time for Q&A. In the meantime, the CBE High School website is a great place to start to learn about high school information. You may also wish to visit the individual high schools’ websites.
We will hold an in-person session:
Thursday, November 26th at 5:0 – 6:30 pm in the learning commons.
Friday, November 27th 12:00 – 12:30 online
