The Week Ahead - October 10
As we head into the Thanksgiving weekend, we want to share that our school enrollment is currently at 765. We continue to welcome students into our school community with new registrations. On that note, we would like your support to remind your student(s) to clean up after themselves when they are outside at lunch. We have noticed an increase in garbage around the school's exterior after lunch. We want to be good neighbors for our community and environment.
For our toonies for Terry campaign, we raised $588 and our online donation to date is $166. We raised $1100 from the bubble team sales for the Terry Fox Foundation. We’d like to thank Gong Cha from Country Hills and Marlborough for partnering with our school. So far, we’ve raised over $1850. We will have more fundraisers at the end of the month to help us reach our target of $3000 for cancer research. Donations can be still be made online at: https://schools.terryfox.ca/30862. We so proud of our school community in supporting cancer research.
Our first set of parent-teacher conferences will be held in November. In the meantime, please feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions or concerns. We want you to work together with parents and guardians to best support the learning of our students.
Students will be participating in the OUR school survey on October 16 or 17th, this data helps us make decisions about how to best support students. If you’d like more details about the survey they are further down in our message.
Lastly, we’d like to extend a special Happy Thanksgiving to all students and families. We hope you will all be able to spend some quality time with each other during this long weekend and appreciate all the goodness that surrounds us. Both of us are so thankful to be part of this school community.
As always, thank you for your continued support.
Ms. Ko and Ms. Dalwood

NEW Our School Survey
Colonel Irvine will be participating in an online school perception survey for students called the OurSCHOOL Student Survey. This anonymous survey is completely voluntary for all CBE students. Please find the details of the survey implementation below.
CBE’s Education Plan prioritizes student voice and well-being in our decision-making processes. Responses from this survey are used at the system and school level to recognize and improve what is necessary for students to feel safe, welcome, and cared for when at school.
Grades 4-12 students provide feedback on:
· sense of belonging
· positive relationships
· anxiety
· feeling safe at school
· life satisfaction
· general health
· orientation to well-being
· goal-oriented
· self-regulation
· cultural awareness of others
Additionally, Grades 6-12 students provide feedback on:
· depression
· self-esteem
· cultural awareness of self
Demographic questions are also asked on this survey for norming purposes. These are:
Grades 4-12 general
· age, gender, Indigenous status, immigrant status, home language.
Grades 6-12 specific
· grade repeater, reasons for changing schools, disability or medical conditions that limits participation in school activities or learning.
At Colonel Irvine, our OurSCHOOL Student Survey administration plan is as follows:
