The Week Ahead - October 23
Tomorrow is a non-instructional day (no school for students). Our Mandarin Program teachers will spend the day in Edmonton visiting other Mandarin program schools and collaborating with other Mandarin teachers. It will be a good opportunity to observe how the Mandarin Program in Edmonton operates. Our regular program teachers collaborated in their curricular teams to continue to create meaningful and engaging lessons for all students.
Today, Junior Achievement was in to offer workshops to our Grade 5 and 6 students for the whole morning. Please ask them what they learned.
We have been fortunate to have really nice weather this year so far. Next week looks much colder, so please help your students be ready with appropriate clothing as they will go outside for the last 20 minutes of lunch every day.
Next week, we will have our first meeting of our Principal Student Advisory Council on Thursday at lunch. We are excited to work with all the students that submitted forms.
Do you have a student here in Grade 9? We will have a section below for the next few months related to high school transition. Please check it periodically so that you do not miss important information.
Lastly, congratulations to the Boys Soccer team for finishing their season. It was a tough playoff game, but they finished the season off as a stronger team. Thank you to Ms. Marchand, Ms. Cornelius, and Ms. Melanie Lee for volunteering their time to provide our students with the opportunity to play for the school soccer team.
The Girls Soccer Team continues their playoff games after being victorious in their Quarterfinal and semi-final games and will be in the Championship game! The game will be on Monday, October 23rd at FEO School. Good luck to the players and coaches.
Thank you for your continued support.
Ms. Ko & Ms. Dalwood

NEW - High School:
We are starting to plan for high school transitions. This will be ongoing between now and the start of March. We will put all information related to high school transitions in this section moving forward. If you have a student in grade 9, please check this information regularly.
Within the next few weeks, we will have an assembly with the Grade 9’s to share more information with them about high school.
For parents with students going into Gr. 10 next year we will be holding in-person and virtual information sessions for parents during Parent Teacher Interviews in November. On Wednesday, November 22 we will have an in-person session in the Learning Commons at the school at 7:15-8pm. On Thursday, November 23, we will have a virtual session also from 7:15-8pm. These sessions will give a brief overview of what you can expect over the next few months with regards to getting ready for high school, and will also provide time for Q&A. In the meantime, the CBE High School website is a great place to start to learn about high school information. You may also wish to visit the individual high schools’ websites.
This year our students will transition to 12 different high schools. Open houses and tours usually start in mid-November and continue through January.
We will post tour dates and open houses here as we are notified of them. You can also visit school websites for more information.
