Good afternoon, Colonel Irvine School Community,

Current Grade 5-8 students received a separate email last week asking parent/guardians to complete the Intent to Return form online for our planning and staffing purposes for next year. If you have not yet done so, please do this today. Intent form. Thank you!

Every year, Mr. Andreasen, Ms. Hill, and students spend a great deal of time putting together a collection of memories for students in our yearbook. We like to remind families to order a yearbook so that we know how many to pre-order. We want to ensure that we have enough books for all students who want one. Please see below for more info.

As you are likely we without CUPE staff in our building next week. To keep the building as clean as possible all schools will no longer have student spectators at sporting events. Parents may watch if they are driving students. Staff need to be out of the building by 3:50pm, so no one will be able to answer the doorbell if you are picking up your child from volleyball. Please be prepared for this. They can always use the office by the phone. If you have questions about this labour action you can read more and get updates on the CBE Labour Action webpage.

Thank you for your continued support in building and fostering a strong school community.

Ms. Ko and Ms. Dalwood

School Council

Next meeting: Tuesday, March 11, at 6:30 PM

Parents on school councils shape the future of Alberta's public education system through advocacy resolutions presented at the ASCA provincial Annual General Meeting (AGM). To influence change in education, school councils in Alberta identify issues in provincial education affecting ECS-12 students that they would like addressed, changed, or resolved and submit a Proposed Advocacy Resolution Form to ASCA for discussion and consideration at the AGM.

We will be discussing these at our next meeting. If you plan on attending the next meeting, please read ASCA AGM Resolutions Review Package which is now available. Please familiarize yourself with the policies before the meeting, as our discussion time will be limited.

To stay informed, please join our FB group.  The process to join is straightforward:

  • Click the link to request to join: Colonel Irvine Parent Group - Calgary

Grade 9 Graduation Pictures

We encourage the Grade 9's to dress up nicely! It's their chance to take a nice image to commemorate their time at Colonel Irvine. Lifetouch will produce a class composite from all images taken and students have the opportunity to purchase those 11x14 composites with folder. It's a great keepsake!
