Happy New Year and Welcome Back!

Good afternoon, Colonel Irvine School community.

下午好! 学文学校社区,

We hope the winter break went well for our students and families. Volleyball tryouts started this week and team selections will be completed by next week. Thank you to all the students who came out. It was great to see the amount of interest in the sport. It is so positive to see so many students who want to be involved in school activities.

Students have come back from the break eager to learn and catch up on assignments as needed. Teachers are accepting assignments until January 26th for the upcoming report card. This deadline is necessary to give teachers enough time to assess the work before report cards are available online in late February.

A group of our Physical Education students found it inspiring to go to Mount Royal University to witness high level athletic performance, teamwork, and spirit. Students were amazed at the basketball skill level, tricks, jaw-dropping moves and teamwork. This sets a high bar that students said they will be working toward. Our field trips offer so much to our students beyond the real-world experiences they get from going places. Students see a boost in their confidence, social skills, and critical thinking skills, and they can gain a deeper understanding of the world beyond the classroom. Most of all, they have fun, which is a great outcome of their time in the community.  Thank you to all the parents who volunteered thier t

For the Lunar New Year Celebration at Colonel Irvine, we are proud to announce that our school’s celebration will feature the theme “Philosophers of China: Wisdom of the East.” It has been so inspiring to watch our students prepare and train for this amazing performance and celebration. Experience this vibrant legacy through captivating performances of music, skits, and dance by Grade 5-9 students. Watch for more details in the weeks ahead and put February 5th on your calendar.

Just a reminder that our office hours are from 8am-3:30pm Monday-Thursday, and 8am-2pm Friday. The phones are not answered after these times.

Thank you for your continued support.

Ms. Ko and Mr. Ferguson
