Good afternoon, Colonel Irvine School Community,
School learning conferences are set for March 20, 4-8pm and March 21, 8:30am-12 noon. These will all be online through Teams. Emails will be sent out to families indicating if teachers have learning/progress concerns and would like to meet with parents or alternatively, that they have no concerns, but parents can still book an interview if they want. You will be able to book conferences through your myCBE account starting on Thursday, March 13 at 12noon. We will close bookings at noon on Thursday, March 21. Keep your confirmation email from SchoolConferences-NoReply@cbe.ab.ca as this contains the link to join the conference. Please remember to book individually with any teacher you wish to speak with. For these conferences we have fewer time slots available, so if you do not have concerns about your students' learning, you do not need to book. More details on how to book are below. If you are booking conferences and need an interpreter please contact the school so that we can arrange that.
Good luck to all of our volleyball teams entering the playoff rounds. More information below. Also as listed on CBE’s labour action site, all other athletics will be on paused after the volleyball season. Therefore, we will not be able to start up badminton or track & field at this time.
We will have an engagement survey out in the next week to allow feedback on next year’s school budget and fees. The survey will be open and available to parents for 2 weeks. We will send out a separate email to all families for this. We encourage all parents/guardians to complete the survey to share your thoughts about next year's plans.

My CBE/PowerSchool/School Conferences
Conference booking will be open March 13 at 12 noon. All parents with children enrolled in the Calgary Board of Education schools have access. Parents must first create a PowerSchool parent account to be able to use this CBE application and the guide link below.

Please note that with the new booking system your child’s teachers will automatically populate as an option to book. If you do not see a teacher you wish to speak with, please click on the toggle button to the right “Show All Conference Leads.” For our school the PE team conferences will be booked through Ms. Yeo and the Student Success Center team (Ms. Elkhatib, Ms. Smith, Ms. Granberg and Ms. Hughson) will be booked together and all bookings will be through Ms. Elkhatib.
Future Diefenbaker High School IB Students
Time is running out to apply for the International Baccalaureate program! Applications for Calgary Board of Education IB programs are due March 15th.
To apply for the International Baccalaureate program at John Diefenbaker High School follow the steps below:
- Fill out an Expression of Interest form. The form can be found on CBE’s IB webpage or linked here.
- Submit the Expression of Interest with a recent report card to our school. You can email completed applications to johngdiefenbaker@cbe.ab.ca or tjulanicki@cbe.ab.ca.
- If Diefenbaker is not your designated high school, complete a high school transfer form. This can also be found on CBE’s webpage or linked here.

Child Care Tax Receipts
Child Care Tax Receipts for CBE Lunch Supervision from January 2024 to December 2024 are now available if you paid for lunch supervision. You can view them through:
MyCBE/PowerSchool under Student Fees & Service Registrations > Menu > Receipts. Families can download / print the online receipt to include in their 2024 tax return.
