Good afternoon, Colonel Irvine School Community,
下午好! 学文学校社区,
Tomorrow there is no school. Teachers will be in the building completing ongoing professional learning on supporting students with literacy.
We have recently experienced some issues with vandalism in the boys' washroom. To address this, we are working on a student-led initiative aimed at increasing ownership and fostering pride in our communal spaces. A group of Grade 9 students is leading the project, and they are brainstorming ways to promote respect and responsibility in our school environment. We appreciate your support in encouraging our students to take pride in keeping our school a positive and welcoming place for everyone.
From May 12th to 15th, our Grade 8 and Grade 9 students participated in the VRCore in-school activity, a unique and engaging curriculum-connected opportunity. Students had the chance to explore how molecules are created and gained hands-on experience by building a virtual atom with their team. They also enjoyed a virtual tour of the International Space Station and even got to experience a virtual spacewalk. This innovative and interactive learning experience, facilitated alongside their science teacher, allowed students to explore key scientific concepts in an immersive way.
We are in need of more volunteers for upcoming gr 7 and 8 field trips, please see further information below if you can help.
We would like to ask all students that any books borrowed from the school are returned by June 13th. We will be sending out slips with students who have books missing prior to that date.
Thank you for your continued support.
Mr. Kitchen (Acting Principal) & Ms. Dalwood

We are still in need of at least 4 more volunteers for this trip. Students are going to see The Da Vinci code and you can enjoy it as well. The trip is on May 28 from 10am-2pm. We would need volunteers at the school for about 9:45 and then you could leave at 2. Please email Mr. Wright (ncwright@cbe.ab.ca) with your legal name and birthdate if you are able to volunteer and have police clearance with the school.
Grade 7 trip –Heritage Park
We are hoping to be able to offer a grade 7 field trip to Heritage Park on June 2nd. Field trips are dependent on support from volunteers. If you would like to volunteer for the day and have your police security clearance please email Mrs. Dhaliwal (ruminhas@cbe.ab.ca) expressing your interest, and include your legal name and date of birth so we can check out volunteer database. If you do not have your police security clearance and would like to volunteer please click on the link below for further instructions on registering to volunteer in your myCBE account. Once you have completed the registration in myCBE the school can provide a letter so that you can go and get your police clearance.
