Good afternoon, Colonel Irvine School Community,
下午好! 学文学校社区,
Our West Coasters returned Sunday night. By all accounts, students and staff had a very memorable trip. We will be sharing some of their adventures on our bulletin board in the school.
We had our last School Council meeting on Tuesday. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to each member of the current parent council executive members for their dedication, leadership and time. The collective effort of the executive has helped to shape and build a strong school community. At our council meeting on Tuesday night, it was shared that there will be vacant positions for next year’s council.
We encourage all parents to consider joining the school council. Together we can continue to make a difference. Your involvement can make a significant impact on the educational journey of our children and help shape the future of our school community and society. Key positions must be filled for the School Council to stay operational. We would be in danger of losing our casino if key positions are not filled. If you have the desire to serve and make a positive impact, we encourage you to consider joining the School council. Please reach out to the current council members for guidance or information on how you can get involved. Please see below.
Grade 8 students thoroughly enjoyed their trip to Vertigo theater on Wednesday. They had the opportunity to see The Da Vinci code.
Both Grade 6 and grade 9 PATs went smoothly on Wednesday and Thursday this week. If your child missed the exam, there will be a make-up session June 2.
Our spring concert will be on Tuesday, June 3 at 6:30PM in the Diefenbaker High School Gym. Tickets are free and can be reserved through this link: https://www.zeffy.com/en-CA/ticketing/colonel-irvine-2025-spring-concert. Please consider making a small donation through the link towards the band program - 100% of the funds will go towards enhancing the band experience by being applied toward fees for clinicians, guest conductors, bussing, etc. The band parent council is also looking for parent volunteers to fill the roles of Chair and Fundraising Coordinator - please reach out to the council (cibandparentassoc@gmail.com) if you are interested. Thank you very much for your support!
Lastly, it is with mixed emotions that I announce Ms. Dalwood will be moving on next year. She has accepted a new assistant principal position at STEM High School. I am excited for her as she embarks on a new journey in her career. I have been truly honored and privileged to serve alongside her for the past 4 years. I will miss her immensely and I know our staff, students and parents will feel the same way. In the meantime, we will enjoy the last month we have with her.
Have a great weekend and thank you for your continued support. Together we achieve more.
Ms. Ko & Ms. Dalwood

Transportation Registration Has Started
Families are now able to register for yellow school bus service for the upcoming 2025-26 school year. If you are receiving this email, it means:
- You are attending your designated school and live outside the walk zone.
- One or more of your children are eligible for transportation.
- You have the option to register for transportation.
Register for Transportation Today
Transportation registration is available using your MyCBE account. (If you do not already have an account, click here to learn how to create one.)
Families must register by Sunday, June 22, 2025 for students to be added to routes for the start of the next school year.
We continue to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing bus stop with available space. Processing times for registrations submitted after the June 22 deadline will be delayed. Confirmed routes are posted in August. For those who register after the June 22 deadline, it may take until mid-October before your child is able to ride the bus.
Transportation can be cancelled with no financial impact by submitting the cancellation form by Sept. 30, 2025.

*Depending on the grade configuration of your school, a younger sibling may be eligible for transportation, but an older sibling attending the same school is not eligible. The older sibling may apply to be a conditional rider.
Conditional Riders
- Conditional riders are students who are not eligible for school bus transportation because they live inside the walk zone OR have a different walk zone than a younger sibling at the same school OR are not attending their designated school.
- Application forms will be available after June 22. Applications are approved by CBE Transportation on a first come first-served basis depending on space and availability.
- You will be informed by CBE Transportation once a decision is made regarding the conditional rider request, this may take until mid-October.
Alternate Address Requests
Families can request an alternate address to their transportation registration to access an alternate bus stop and/or route. This provides flexibility to access bus stops and routes to support childcare arrangements and changing family schedules.
You must register and complete the Request for Alternate Address form in MyCBE by June 8, 2025. The additional cost to add an alternate address is $180. Learn more about this option on the CBE Transportation website.
New to Transportation
If your school is receiving buses for the first time, we will work closely with your school on traffic safety, loading zones and signage.
If your child has not taken the school bus before, CBE offers an orientation program called My 1st Ride. Learn more on CBE’s website.
