Good afternoon, Colonel Irvine School Community,

下午好! 学文学校社区,

We hope our grade 9 West Coast Trip students will have fun on their sailing trip. They left Wednesday and will return to Calgary on Sunday night.

Last week we wrapped up our badminton season. What a fantastic season they had! We are thrilled to announce our incredible success at the recent badminton divisionals held at Forest Lawn High School. Our junior, intermediate, and senior teams all took home the banner, marking a truly outstanding achievement for our school's athletic program. Congratulations to all the athletes on a dominant performance!

The Grade 6’s and 9’s will be writing the ELA Part A Provincial Achievement Test next week. Grade 6’s write on Wednesday, May 28 from 9-11am, and the Grade 9’s write on May 29, also from 9-11am. Both grades can have up to double time (1pm) to complete if they need. Students will need to stay in the exam room for a period of time after they are done, so we’d encourage they bring water, snacks and a book. If they usually buy lunch and need the whole writing time, buying lunch will not be an option, so they will need to pack a lunch. We will make sure that students get a break after the exam to eat their lunches. They cannot use the computers in the test rooms after they are done writing. Please also be aware that no personal mobile devices are allowed in exam rooms. If students are caught with these devices (even if they are not using them) this will be documented and submitted to Alberta Education and may result in the student receiving a zero.

Yesterday was Mr. Kitchen’s last day as Acting Principal, and today, Ms. Ko is back at the school. We’d like to thank him for his time and support. Some of our Grade 9’s may see him at Fowler next year.

Ms. Ko & Ms. Dalwood

Transportation Registration Has Started

Families are now able to register for yellow school bus service for the upcoming 2025-26 school year. If you are receiving this email, it means:

  • You are attending your designated school and live outside the walk zone.
  • One or more of your children are eligible for transportation.
  • You have the option to register for transportation.

Register for Transportation Today

Transportation registration is available using your MyCBE account. (If you do not already have an account, click here to learn how to create one.)

Families must register by Sunday, June 22, 2025 for students to be added to routes for the start of the next school year.

We continue to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing bus stop with available space. Processing times for registrations submitted after the June 22 deadline will be delayed. Confirmed routes are posted in August. For those who register after the June 22 deadline, it may take until mid-October before your child is able to ride the bus.

Transportation can be cancelled with no financial impact by submitting the cancellation form by Sept. 30, 2025.

*Depending on the grade configuration of your school, a younger sibling may be eligible for transportation, but an older sibling attending the same school is not eligible. The older sibling may apply to be a conditional rider.

Conditional Riders

  • Conditional riders are students who are not eligible for school bus transportation because they live inside the walk zone OR have a different walk zone than a younger sibling at the same school OR are not attending their designated school.
  • Application forms will be available after June 22. Applications are approved by CBE Transportation on a first come first-served basis depending on space and availability.
  • You will be informed by CBE Transportation once a decision is made regarding the conditional rider request, this may take until mid-October.

Alternate Address Requests

Families can request an alternate address to their transportation registration to access an alternate bus stop and/or route. This provides flexibility to access bus stops and routes to support childcare arrangements and changing family schedules.

You must register and complete the Request for Alternate Address form in MyCBE by June 8, 2025. The additional cost to add an alternate address is $180. Learn more about this option on the CBE Transportation website

New to Transportation

If your school is receiving buses for the first time, we will work closely with your school on traffic safety, loading zones and signage.

If your child has not taken the school bus before, CBE offers an orientation program called My 1st Ride. Learn more on CBE’s website
