Good afternoon Colonel Irvine School Community.

下午好! 学文学校社区,

Today we had our Remembrance Day ceremonies to honour our past and present Armed Forces members.  We'd like to bring special honor to those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom and for those who continue to do so around the world. We are so fortunate to live in Canada. We hope the ceremonies help students to reflect on contributions of past and present military operations, to think about how they can solve conflict through dialogue and understanding and perhaps encourage others to join the Armed Forces in the future if that interests them. Special thanks to Ms. Wu for arranging veteran Lt. Col. Lyle Harod to speak at our ceremonies. We were very fortunate to have him share his wisdom about service, sacrifice, and building for the future.

We want to express our gratitude to all the students and families that contributed to the poppy fund and the Veterans’ food bank drive. Also, thank you to our cadet members, student speakers, Grade 8 and 9 band members, and the teachers who helped organize the ceremonies. There will be other special events and ceremonies taking place around our city on Monday, November 11th.  Click on the link for ideas: https://www.familyfuncanada.com/calgary/remembrance-day-ceremonies/

As we look to the coming weeks, we will be discussing with Grade 9’s how to prepare for high school.  We will also offer high school information sessions for parents regarding high school transitions later in November

We are pleased to announce that our Photo Day will be November 19th. We are kindly asking for two parent volunteers for this photo day (8:30 – 3:00), and one parent volunteer for the retakes on December 10. Your support is greatly appreciated. Please email Ms. Ko at bsko@cbe.ab.ca if you are able to volunteer your time.

We hope that everyone will enjoy the fall break this year and we will see you back on Thursday, November 13th.

Thank you for your continued support.

Ms. Ko and Mr. Ferguson
